KATHMANDU: Renowned Indian choreographer Terrence Lewis has arrived in Kathmandu to serve as a celebrity grand jury member for the grand finale of the globally acclaimed dance competition World of Dance Nepal, being held in the capital today.
He was warmly welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) by the event’s artistic director JD Tamang, national director Roshan Gahatraj, and the organizing team amid a vibrant reception.

Along with Lewis, senior choreographer Mehrukh Dumasia from the Terence Lewis Dance Academy also arrived in Nepal.
Speaking briefly to journalists at the airport, Lewis expressed his pride and excitement about being in Nepal. He also praised artistic director JD Tamang, recalling him as one of his most talented students and a batch topper at his academy.
He added that he is looking forward to an outstanding experience at the grand finale.
Lewis, a leading figure in popularizing contemporary dance in India, is a celebrated choreographer in Bollywood.
He has worked on major films such as Lagaan and Jhankaar Beats, and is widely known as a judge on popular reality shows including Dance India Dance and India’s Best Dancer.

Over the years, he has trained and mentored thousands of dancers, significantly contributing to the growth of the dance industry.
Originating in Southern California in 2008, World of Dance has grown into a global platform spanning more than 50 countries. Its introduction in Nepal aims to provide local talent with an international stage and global recognition.
The grand finale will feature an esteemed panel of judges, including Terrence Lewis, legendary member of the Wild Ripperz Crew Kiran Thapa, and artistic director JD Tamang.
Finalists selected from auditions held across five cities—Nepalgunj, Butwal, Pokhara, Kathmandu, and Itahari—will compete today across four divisions: Upper Division, Junior Division, Upper Team Division, and Junior Team Division.
Winners from each category will receive a cash prize of NPR 100,000 along with a 24-carat gold-plated trophy. The biggest highlight of the competition is the opportunity for winners to represent Nepal on the international stage.
Organizers say the event, supported with special interest and collaboration from the U.S. Embassy, is expected to inspire emerging dancers and elevate Nepal’s dance industry to a global platform.
