‘Roll No 1’ sees massive audience surge in second week
The surge in viewership comes from the beginning of the film’s second week, with advance bookings for many evening shows already filling up during the daytime.
KATHMANDU: Film ‘Roll No 1’ has witnessed a significant rise in audience turnout, with theatres reporting strong occupancy both inside and outside the Kathmandu Valley.
In the Kathmandu Valley, the film recorded over 80% occupancy across most shows today, with several screenings going completely housefull. Outside the Valley, occupancy levels have also improved notably, exceeding 45%.
The surge in viewership comes from the beginning of the film’s second week, with advance bookings for many evening shows already filling up during the daytime.
“From barely crawling yesterday, Roll No 1 has started walking today,” producer Binod Paudel wrote on Facebook, reflecting the growing momentum. His statement aligns with the current trend of multiple housefull shows across cinemas.
The film is reportedly receiving strong word of mouth, with audiences praising it as a must-watch for students, teachers, and parents alike.
Viewers have especially appreciated its focus on child psychology and its critical take on the existing educational evaluation system, which is emerging as a key reason behind its positive reception.
Produced under the banner of Seven Seas Cinema, ‘Roll No 1’ is directed by Jon Yonjan and written by Mahesh Dawadi.
The film features actors including Mukun Bhusal, Sushank Mainali, Reenu Yogi, and Srijana Adhikari in lead roles.
Child actors such as Nirbhik Regmi, Rinchen Lama, Samyam Katwal, and Sijal Shrestha also play key characters.
The film is produced by inod Paudel and Janvi Paudel, with Chhatramaya Giri and Ramesh Chalise as co-producers.
Cinematography is handled by Shivaram Shrestha, music by Prashant Shiwakoti, and editing by Madan Ghimire.
With increasing audience interest and strong reviews, ‘Roll No 1’ appears to be gaining steady momentum at the box office.
