‘Unko Sweater’ celebrates success with fans
Having grossed over Rs 100 million by the end of its third week, the film is not only breaking commercial records but also winning a special place in the hearts of its audience.
KATHMANDU: The Nepali film Unko Sweater, the first blockbuster of the year 2082 B.S., has been creating waves at the box office even as it enters its fourth week of screening.

To celebrate this success, the film’s team held a cake-cutting event on Tuesday evening at Fcube Cinema Hall in Chabahil, Kathmandu, among viewers who came to watch the movie.
The event was attended by lead actors Bipin Karki, Alex Paras, Pooja Limbu, Sharada Devi Silwal, Bhawana Khapang Magar, singer Sujan Chapagain, music director Kobid Bajra, lyricist Harka Saud, cinematographer Chintan Rajbhandari, and director Naveen Chauhan, among others.

The cake featured images of the film’s posters and snapshots from its popular songs. Director Naveen Chauhan emphasized that the cake-cutting was not a promotional activity but rather a gesture to share joy and express gratitude to the audience.
He explained that after the film crossed the Rs 100 million mark, they held a lucky draw to select a cinema hall, and since Fcube was chosen, the celebration was organized there.

The hall was nearly houseful, and the enthusiastic audience added to the vibrant atmosphere. The film team thanked everyone who contributed to the movie’s success. Chauhan remarked, “We have nothing material to offer anyone, but love must be given to our viewers. We cut the cake to share that love.”
Currently, Unko Sweater is being screened in over 100 shows across Nepal and internationally in countries including the United States, Australia, Japan, South Korea, various European nations, and the Middle East.
The film features performances by Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Pooja Limbu, Alex Paras, Wilson Bikram Rai, Suraj Tamang, Bhawana Khapang Magar, Sunil Pokhrel, and others.

On the international stage, French director Eric Valli praised the film as a “sensitive portrayal of Nepali society and culture.” The film has also received open acclaim from prominent figures ranging from actress Manisha Koirala and politician Baburam Bhattarai to artists Rajesh Payal Rai, Bijay Lama, and Nazir Hussain.
