KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet has said that the party cannot be strengthened if leaders who firmly stand for the party are targeted with false allegations for popularity or if there is any form of collusion with opponents.

Sharing his views on social media after the conclusion of the Bagmati Province Committee meeting, Basnet said the gathering had resolved to collectively resist what he described as coordinated attacks against the party, its chairperson, and leaders.

He added that the party aims to counter misinformation both inside and outside the organization, strengthen its relationship with the public, and further reinforce its stance in favor of social justice and public welfare.

“The party cannot be built by spreading false accusations against those who firmly stand for it or by engaging in collusion with opponents,” Basnet stated.

According to him, most participants in the meeting emphasized the need to make the party more united and stronger. He also noted that suggestions from leaders with differing views were taken seriously.

Basnet further said the meeting concluded with a commitment to organizational strengthening, expanding public engagement, and advancing the national goal of “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.”
