KATHMANDU: Sports Minister Bablu Gupta has resigned from his ministerial post.

He informed Prime Minister Sushila Karki about his decision on Sunday night.

Due to today’s public holiday, his formal resignation letter will be officially submitted tomorrow.

“I met with the Prime Minister last night to inform her about my resignation. Since today is a public holiday, the resignation letter will be officially submitted tomorrow,” Minister Gupta said.

Gupta is preparing to contest the House of Representatives elections from Siraha-1.

While he plans to run under the banner of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, he has not yet received an official party ticket.

Currently, he is in Janakpurdham, where he has joined Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane and senior leader Balen Shah in their election campaigns.
