Govt reshuffles 23 secretaries after Ministry reorganization
With the restructuring, the adjustment of secretary positions was carried out to align with the revised administrative setup.
KATHMANDU: The government has reassigned and reshuffled secretaries following the reduction of ministries from 22 to 18 under the newly approved Government Work Division Regulation, 2083.
With the restructuring, the adjustment of secretary positions was carried out to align with the revised administrative setup.
Ministries that previously had two secretaries have now been streamlined to a single secretary post, resulting in a total redeployment of 23 secretaries across various positions.
As part of the changes, six secretaries have been assigned to different agencies and responsibilities.
Bhupal Baral has been posted to the Gandaki Province, Chandrakala Paudel to the Office of the Vice President, Pramila Devi Bajracharya to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dinanath Mishra to the National Vigilance Centre, Chiranjivi Chataut to the Nepal Trust Office, and Sarju Kumar Vaidya to the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat.
Previously, ministries including Finance, Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Agriculture and Livestock Development, Health and Population, and Education, Science and Technology had two secretaries each.
Additionally, six secretaries have been placed in an additional group. This includes Loknath Paudel (former Ministry of Youth and Sports), Krishnahari Puskar (Vice President’s Office), Hariprasad Mainali (Public Procurement Monitoring Office), Dr. Govind Prasad Sharma (former Ministry of Forests and Environment), Dillirram Sharma (former Ministry of Health and Population), and Danduraj Ghimire (currently suspended).
Dr. Sharma has been given a special coordination responsibility for Tribhuvan International Airport while remaining in the additional group.
The Prime Minister’s Office also indicated that another secretary from the additional group will soon be assigned to oversee coordination in the information technology (IT) sector.
