KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has returned to Nepal after participating in the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament held in Geneva, Switzerland.

Speaker Ghimire had departed for Geneva on 11th of Shrawan to attend the global conference jointly organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the United Nations.

Speaking at a press conference held at Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return, Ghimire shared insights from the conference, stating that discussions focused on how to support countries lagging behind due to poverty, address emerging global challenges, and develop effective governance systems.

He remarked, “The conference explored the impacts of ongoing digital advancements, the policies governments must adopt, and how to implement them effectively. It also addressed global political conflicts and ways to reduce inequality.”

During the conference, held from Shrawan 14 to 17, Speaker Ghimire also held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Malta, Israel, Bhutan, and other countries.
