KATHMANDU: Chitwan police have released popular TikTok creator and YouTuber Ratan Karki following his detention for posting election-related videos during Nepal’s silent period.

According to DSP Ravindra Khanal, Karki was summoned after authorities found he had shared content featuring various candidates during the prohibited campaign window.

After routine questioning at the district police office, Karki removed all videos and political content posted during the silent period and was allowed to go free.

Karki, who recently returned to Nepal from Japan, had shared clips on TikTok, Facebook, and other platforms capturing the ongoing election atmosphere, which drew significant views before the police intervention.
