Nepal box office update: ‘Lalibazar’ leads as multiple releases see mixed performance
‘Lalibazar’, released on Baisakh 25, has collected a gross total of Rs 9 crore 16 lakh 655 as of Sunday (Jestha 31).
KATHMANDU: Nepal’s box office continues to show a mixed trend as six Nepali films currently run in cinemas, with ‘Lalibazar’ firmly holding the top position in overall earnings, according to data from the Film Development Board.
‘Lalibazar’, released on Baisakh 25, has collected a gross total of Rs 9 crore 16 lakh 655 as of Sunday (Jestha 31). The film had earned Rs 8 crore 78 lakh 5,198 the previous week, indicating an additional Rs 37 lakh 95 thousand 457 in the last seven days. Despite being over a month into its theatrical run, it continues to maintain steady weekly earnings above Rs 30 lakh. The film has sold 311,403 tickets so far.
Meanwhile, ‘Rol No. 1’, released on Jestha 15, has collected a total of Rs 1 crore 35 lakh 15 thousand 993 with 47,151 tickets sold. It earned Rs 94 lakh 91 thousand 680 by the previous Sunday, adding Rs 40 lakh 24 thousand 313 over the past week—considered a relatively strong performance for its stage in release.
‘Mitajyu’ has shown a sharp slowdown, earning only Rs 1 lakh 41 thousand 483 in the past week. Its total gross now stands at Rs 1 crore 32 lakh 53 thousand 342, up from Rs 1 crore 31 lakh 11 thousand 859 last Sunday. The film has sold 46,154 tickets.
‘Kaji’, released alongside ‘Mitjyu’, has seen minimal movement at the box office. It added just Rs 9,075 in the last week, bringing its total gross to Rs 44 lakh 48 thousand 60. The film has recorded 14,324 ticket sales.
‘Life Dyamage’, which released on Jestha 1, collected Rs 26,275 over the past week. Its total earnings have reached Rs 34 lakh 66 thousand 290, up from Rs 34 lakh 40 thousand 15 the previous Sunday, with 11,371 tickets sold.
At the lower end of the spectrum, ‘Kumbha’ remains the weakest performer of the season. It has grossed only Rs 3 lakh 91 thousand 10 from 1,679 tickets sold, adding just Rs 58,600 in the past week.
