KATHMANDU: A powerful new psychological drama titled Hatya is currently being staged at Mandala Theatre in Thapagaun, exploring the complex intersection of crime, psychology, and social morality.

The play, directed and translated by Sudip Timilsina with co-direction by Bishal Kumar KC, is based on Patrick Hamilton’s acclaimed psychological thriller Rope.

Unlike conventional narratives, Hatya challenges audiences to view crime through a different lens — examining how the definition of crime is deeply entangled with individual psychology and collective social perception.

The production goes beyond entertainment, aiming to provoke critical reflection on moral values and human behavior.

The play features a diverse cast of eight performers, including participants of Miss Grand International and the director of Everest Film Academy.

Many of the actors are students of acting or professionals from various fields with a strong passion for theatre.

Hatya is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the Nepali stage, sparking intellectual discourse on crime and conscience.

The show runs daily at 4 PM from Asar 5 to 15, with two shows on Saturdays at 12 PM and 4 PM.

There will be no performance on Mondays.
