KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Committee on the Implementation and Evaluation of Directive Principles, Policies, and Responsibilities of the State has instructed the government to submit an updated progress report on the upgradation of the Tribhuvan University (TU) Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

The directive was issued during the committee meeting held on Friday at Singha Durbar.

The committee had previously conducted an on-site inspection of the cricket ground on Shrawan 12 to assess the ongoing development works.

Committee Chairperson Thakur Prasad Gaire stated that the committee expects the concerned authorities to submit detailed information regarding the progress made since the inspection.

He also mentioned that official correspondence would be initiated to obtain the report.

“We are seeking the status update of the development works after our monitoring visit to the TU Cricket Ground. The committee will send a formal letter requesting the progress report,” said Chairperson Gaire.

The upgradation works currently underway include pitch and ground improvement, construction of parapet seating, and installation of floodlights.

Due to project delays, the contractor companies are reportedly working under penalty clauses to complete the work.

The parapet construction is being undertaken by BKOI KCDC BG Joint Venture (JV), while the floodlight installation contract was awarded to Vision Ishwori JV.

The contracts were signed with the Federal Secretariat Construction and Management Office under the Ministry of Urban Development on Falgun 19 and 22, respectively.
