KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Mahabir Pun has officially assumed office, pledging to build the ministry from the ground up.
Soon after taking the oath of office and secrecy before President Ramchandra Paudel on Tuesday, Minister Pun reached his office at Singha Durbar and formally took charge.
On his first day, he signed a decision to initiate the preparation of the ministry’s Organizational and Management (O&M) structure, marking the beginning of institutional setup.
Describing the ministry as still in its formative stage, Pun said it would have to move forward “from zero,” as key frameworks and operational directions are yet to be defined.
He also expressed full commitment to advancing Nepal’s science and technology sector with dedicated effort, stating that he would work “day and night” for its development.
“I want to make it clear to citizens that I will not stay in this post for a long time. I will serve as minister for three years, then hand over the responsibility to a new young successor,” he said.
Minister Pun further emphasized that his goal is to establish a strong institutional foundation within his tenure before transferring leadership to the next generation.
