Over 2,000 security personnel deployed for NPL Season 2 opener

KATHMANDU: The second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) kicks off today with a high-stakes opener between defending champions Janakpur Bolts and Kathmandu Gurkhas.

The match is scheduled to begin at 4 PM.

To ensure safety and smooth conduct, more than 2,000 security personnel have been deployed.

According to Chhumbi Lama, spokesperson for the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the deployment includes 1,900 Nepal Police officers, 250 armed personnel, and 200 private security staff.

In the inaugural season, Janakpur Bolts defeated Kathmandu Gurkhas by five wickets.

Kathmandu will take the field today under the captaincy of Karan KC and Anil Sah.
