KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has made his first public appearance since the recent Gen Z protests, moving into his newly built residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur.
Following the violent demonstrations of Sept 8–9 (Bhadra 23–24), Oli had vacated the official Baluwatar residence and temporarily shifted to Shivapuri via an army helicopter.
He has now chosen Gundu as his permanent residence.
The new residence was arranged with the special initiative of influential UML leader Mahesh Basnet.
UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali confirmed on Thursday that Oli will be based in Gundu for his future political activities.
On Friday, a video clip of Oli arriving at the new residence went viral on social media.
The footage shows Oli alongside Mahesh Basnet, warmly greeting enthusiastic party cadres.
The scene has sparked excitement among his supporters and drawn significant attention in political circles.
Oli’s relocation is already creating a new buzz in Gundu, with observers noting that his political engagements will now be directed from this new base.
