NUP Chair demands explanation from Parliamentary leader
Shrestha has accused Chaudhary of acting against the party’s interests and violating its constitution. She has also questioned why no disciplinary action has been taken against him.
KATHMANDU: As internal disputes intensify within the Nagarik Unmukti Party, Chair and Member of Parliament Ranjita Shrestha has formally demanded a written explanation from the party’s parliamentary leader, Gangaram Chaudhary.
Shrestha has accused Chaudhary of acting against the party’s interests and violating its constitution. She has also questioned why no disciplinary action has been taken against him.
In a letter sent to Chaudhary on Thursday, Shrestha alleged that despite her being unwell for some time, Chaudhary was involved in unconstitutional activities.
She pointed out that under his active leadership, meetings were held on Shrawan 3, 9, and 11 that breached party regulations and resulted in illegal decisions.
Citing Article 17 of the party’s Interim Constitution, 2078 BS, Shrestha has instructed Chaudhary to provide a well-founded and satisfactory reply within 24 hours.
She warned that failure to respond will lead to disciplinary action as per the party constitution.
