KATHMANDU: Manchester City suffered a major setback in the English Premier League on Saturday, falling 2–1 to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

Harvey Barnes delivered a brilliant performance, scoring both goals to hand City a surprising defeat.

Both teams missed early chances in a tightly contested first half. Newcastle broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute when Barnes fired in the opener.

City responded quickly, with Ruben Dias leveling the match in the 68th minute.

But just two minutes later, Barnes struck again, restoring Newcastle’s lead and ultimately securing all three points.

The victory lifted Newcastle to 14th in the standings, while City remained in third place, missing a crucial opportunity to close the gap on league leaders Arsenal.

Earlier on Saturday, Liverpool were beaten 3–0 by Nottingham Forest, and Chelsea defeated Burnley 2–0 to climb to second place in the table.
