Nepal Army deploys new peacekeepers to Central African Republic

KATHMANDU: A contingent of Nepal Army peacekeepers from Gorkhanath Battalion has departed for the Central African Republic to replace the third rotation of the Yuddhabhairav Battalion deployed under the United Nations peacekeeping mission.

According to the Directorate of Military Public Relations and Information, the first team of 175 peacekeepers from the fourth rotation left for the mission area on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, 225 Nepali peacekeepers who completed their tour of duty in the mission have returned home.

The Nepal Army said a total of 1,189 Nepali peacekeepers are currently serving in the Central African Republic under the UN mandate.
