He criticized the current system, calling it inherently corrupt, and emphasized that corruption has evolved into a cultural issue in the country.
KATHMANDU: During a discussion on irregularities in the public accounts committee meeting on Friday, Nepali Congress MP Sanjay Gautam stated that corruption has become deeply ingrained in Nepal, almost like a cultural norm.
He criticized the current system, calling it inherently corrupt, and emphasized that corruption has evolved into a cultural issue in the country.
Gautam stressed the urgent need to transition Nepal towards a paperless and faceless system to effectively combat corruption.
According to him, the use of advanced technology is crucial, and until the country adopts a fully paperless and faceless system, corruption cannot be eradicated.
He highlighted that lack of transparency remains the biggest challenge and is the root cause of widespread corruption.
MP Gautam also urged the Public Accounts Committee to immediately instruct the government to implement paperless and faceless systems nationwide.
Furthermore, he called for intensified efforts by all stakeholders to clear up irregularities in public funds and stressed the importance of regular monitoring and collection of outstanding dues.
