KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a heatwave warning as temperatures continue to rise across the Terai region.

Officials have urged residents to take precautions, warning that hot and dry conditions are expected to persist for the next three days, particularly in the Sudurpashchim Province and Lumbini Province.

Rising temperatures are also likely in Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province.

According to forecasts, maximum temperatures may reach around 40°C in Dhangadhi and up to 41°C in Nepalgunj and Bhairahawa.

Heat levels are also expected to rise in Birendranagar and Ghorahi.

Authorities have advised people to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, drink plenty of water, and take special care of their health as the heatwave intensifies.
