KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Purna Bahadur Ghartimagar has accused the current government of operating in violation of the constitution, rule of law, and the core spirit of parliamentary democracy.

Speaking during Thursday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Ghartimagar criticized the government for lacking moral grounding and disregarding constitutional processes.

He expressed deep concern that the rule of law, the people’s mandate, and the spirit of the constitution were being continuously neglected.

“This government is neither based on moral legitimacy nor on constitutional procedures. Rather, it is a foul example of power clinging through deliberate and shameless violations of constitutional norms,” he said. “The rule of law, parliamentary practice, the people’s mandate, and the soul of the constitution are all being humiliated, ignored, and tainted.”

He further alleged that even after coalition partners withdrew support, the government has been misleading the public with a false sense of political stability.

Ghartimagar also accused the Prime Minister of turning the parliament into an extension of Singha Durbar (the central administrative hub), stating, “Parliament has ceased to be a platform of public trust and has become a theater of power.”
