‘Mirzapur’ returns as a feature film; teaser sparks massive buzz

KATHMANDU: The widely popular OTT series Mirzapur is now set to arrive as a feature film.
The makers released the film’s teaser on YouTube on Thursday, offering a glimpse into its intense world of power struggles, political conspiracies, legacy, rivalry, and brutal violence.
The teaser highlights Pankaj Tripathi’s iconic character Kaleen Bhaiya, who is seen maintaining his dominance in Mirzapur.
Meanwhile, Ali Fazal’s character (Govind) is shown stepping forward to challenge his empire.
The film also brings a notable casting change, with Jitendra Kumar of Panchayat fame portraying Bablu Pandit’s role, originally played by Vikrant Massey in the series.
Ali Fazal had earlier revealed that the film’s storyline is set before the events of the web series, which allows several characters who had died in the series to return.
Divyenndu (Munna Bhaiya), Rajesh Tailang, and Sheeba Chaddha reprise their roles, while Ravi Kishan joins the franchise as a gangster.
Directed by Gurmeet Singh, Mirzapur: The Movie features an ensemble cast including Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Ravi Kishan, Jitendra Kumar, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.
The film is scheduled for release on Sept 4 and will be available in Hindi and Telugu.
