Manish Jha vows to stay in RSP general secretary race till end
Jha said he was the first to announce his candidacy for the post and would not step back at any stage.
KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) general secretary candidate Manish Jha has said he will not withdraw his candidacy under any pressure and will remain in the race until the end of the party’s first general convention.
Speaking to journalists at the convention venue on Friday, Jha said he was the first to announce his candidacy for the post and would not step back at any stage.
“I was the first to declare my candidacy in this convention. My nomination remains intact,” he said. “This kind of immature politics—announcing one day and withdrawing the next—should not happen.”
Initially, 10 leaders had filed nominations for the general secretary position. However, candidates including Kabindra Burlakoti, Raju Pandey, Ganesh Parajuli, Jagdish Kharel, Ranjana Darshana, and Pramod Neupane have already withdrawn their nominations.
Jha appeared to take a swipe at those withdrawing, saying real political competition should not be influenced by phone calls or pressure. “Politics should not be based on ‘let’s think after someone’s call,’” he said. “I am fully committed and moving forward.”
The contest for the RSP general secretary post is now expected to be between Manish Jha, Bipin Kumar Acharya, Sagar Dhakal, and Ganesh Karki.
