Man assaulting Gauradaha Mayor at home held

KATHMANDU: Jhapa police have arrested 34-year-old Bhishma Sitaula, a resident of Ward No. 5 in Gauradaha Municipality, for allegedly verbally abusing and physically assaulting the municipality’s mayor, Chhatrapati Subedi, at his residence.

According to Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, spokesperson for the District Police Office, the incident took place on Sunday night when Sitaula reportedly used abusive language and physically misbehaved with Mayor Subedi.

Situala was presented before the District Administration Office today.

Authorities have extended the investigation period by 10 days under the Muluki Criminal Code 2074, charging him with “indecent behavior,” while further inquiries continue.
