Karnali Yaks opt to bowl first against Lumbini Lions

KATHMANDU: Karnali Yaks have elected to field first in their Saturday fixture of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) after captain Sompal Kami won the toss at the TU International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur. Lumbini Lions were invited to bat in what is the second match for both sides this season.

Karnali made two changes to their lineup, bringing in Bipin Sharma in place of Yunnis Vikram Singh and fielding William Bosisto instead of Max O’Dowd.

The team features Sompal Kami, Priyank Panchal, Pawan Sarraf, Will Bosisto, Najibullah Zadran, Mark Watt, Gulshan Jha, Arjun Gharti Magar, Yuvraj Khatri, Nandan Yadav, and Bipin Sharma.

Lumbini Lions also introduced one change, with Sumit Maharjan replacing Dinesh Adhikari. Under the leadership of captain Rohit Paudel, the Lions are playing with D’Arcy Short, Sundeep Jora, Sumit Maharjan, Dilip Nath, Gulbadin Naib, Samir Ali, Sher Malla, Abhishek Gautam, Ruben Trumplemann, and JJ Smit.

This is the second outing for both teams in the ongoing season.

Lumbini began their campaign with a convincing 6-wicket victory over Chitwan Rhinos, while Karnali suffered a 4-wicket defeat against the same opponent.

In the previous season, Karnali had defeated Lumbini by 5 wickets.

Chitwan went on to reach the playoffs, finishing third, whereas Lumbini ended at the bottom of the table after losing six of their seven matches.
