KATHMANDU: Nepali feature film Jante Bakhro has officially released in cinemas across the country starting today, Friday.

The film, promoted as a “complete family entertainer,” has received positive feedback from its premiere screenings and has been allotted a significant number of shows by various multiplex chains.

Director Simosh Sunuwar explained that the unique title Jante Bakhro reflects the film’s cultural roots.

“Though the story is a romantic drama, we chose a title that connects with tradition and evokes curiosity among the younger generation,” he said.

Sunuwar also mentioned that the cast was carefully chosen to match the characters, and he is confident that audience word-of-mouth will help promote the film.

Team Confident About Word-of-Mouth

Producer Santosh Gautam expressed optimism that positive reactions from both industry professionals and Friday audiences will increase future show numbers. “We are confident that audience word-of-mouth will promote our film. We have made this film sincerely and without compromise,” said Gautam.

Cast, Crew, and Cultural Themes

Jante Bakhro is penned by writer Pradeep Bhardwaj and stars Saugat Malla in the lead alongside Asif Shah, Garima Sharma, Rama Thapaliya, Lokendra Lekhak, Kamal Devkota, Bishal Pahadi, Rusha Neupane, Kusum Sharma, Sneha Joshi, and Samapika Gautam.

The film artistically portrays fading village traditions, such as the janti (wedding procession) culture, tapari–duna (leaf plates) feasts, and rural lifestyles with a touch of humor. Its songs—“Muku Muku Mya,” “Ghamai Raja,” and “Angurko Jhuppo”—have already gained popularity.

The film’s trailer has also received positive feedback.

Produced under the banner of Muin Entertainment, the film features cinematography by Hari Humagain and Uttam Humagain, with editing by Sunil Shivabhakti.

It is being distributed by Tifalk Films, and the digital rights have been acquired by G2 One Digital.
