‘Janai Harayeako Bahun’ renamed to ‘Janai Harayeako Manche’
To avoid controversy, the word Bahun (Brahmin) has been replaced with Manche (Person), according to the film’s production team.
KATHMANDU: The Nepali film formerly titled ‘Janai Harayeako Bahun: Sambandhka Dhagaharu’ has officially changed its name to ‘Janai Harayeako Manche: Sambandhka Dhagaharu’ following concerns raised by individuals and organizations associated with Hindu religion.
To avoid controversy, the word Bahun (Brahmin) has been replaced with Manche (Person), according to the film’s production team.
Slated for release on Bhadra 6, the filmmakers have also unveiled a character poster featuring the film’s lead actor, Bijay Baral.
The poster shows him dressed in a red shirt, carrying two bags, appearing to be leaving his home.
His mother is seen blessing him with a red tika, suggesting a poignant farewell. The color tone and lighting imply early morning, hinting at a new beginning.
Vijay’s expression, marked by deep emotion and sorrow, powerfully captures the pain of leaving behind family and loved ones.
The poster reflects the story of a villager who embarks on a journey to the city in search of a better life, setting the tone for a moving narrative of struggle and resilience.
The production team has tagged Bijay Baral as an “Epic Natural Star”, emphasizing his strong and authentic screen presence. This film marks his first major role following the all-time blockbuster ‘Purnabahadurko Sarangi’.
Directed by Himal Neupane, the film explores the emotional bond between a mother and her son. Associate director Manish Raut, known for his role in Prem Geet 3, brings additional strength to the creative team.
The film was shot across Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, and Kavre, and is currently in the post-production phase.
Joining Bijay Baral in the lead roles are Keki Adhikari, Miruna Magar, Gaurav Pahari, Sushank Mainali, and Bholaraj Sapkota. Supporting roles are played by Rear Rai, Bhavana Khapangi Magar, Rupesh Lama, and Suman Thapa, among others.
Produced under the Paperclip banner, the film is backed by producers Kamal Neupane and Bimal Neupane, with co-producers RK Manandhar, Rupesh Lama, CR Basnet, Narayan Timilsina, and Chudamani Sibakoti.
The film features music by Thaneshwar Gautam, Arjun Pokharel, SD Yogi, and Prashant Sibakoti. Naveen Gurung is the DOP, while Krishna Pariyar has handled cinematography.
Written by Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, the film’s story, screenplay, and dialogues promise a heartfelt narrative.
Dinesh Bahadur Raut serves as the chief assistant director, with Tarkaraj Neupane, Ravindra Nepal, Monika Thapa, and Aakash KC working as assistant directors.
Laxman Raj Paudel is the production controller.
Kafiya Films, under Govinda Shahi, has taken the responsibility for distribution.
