KATHMANDU: The High Court Patan has ordered the production company Shatkon Arts to submit the soft copy of the film ‘Lalibazaar’ for judicial review.

A joint bench of Justices Swikriti Parajuli and Surya Prasad Parajuli issued the directive, allowing the court to examine the film while permitting the original copy to be taken back after study.

The bench also ordered the collection of the original file (case records) related to the decision of the Central Film Censorship Committee, which had granted screening approval to the film.

The hearing is currently underway regarding whether to issue an interim order, and the court requested the film copy during Tuesday’s session for closer examination of the disputed content.

According to court spokesperson Govindra Prasad Koirala, although the producers had submitted the film via pen drive, the bench specifically demanded a proper soft copy for detailed review.

He added that the court will assess the allegedly controversial scenes and storyline.

The next hearing on the writ petition has been scheduled for Wednesday.

The petition was filed by Roshan Badi, who claims that the film harms the dignity of the Badi community.

The film is currently being screened in cinemas across the country.
