Chhiring Lhamu quits party, declares independence

KATHMANDU: Former proportional representative lawmaker and Central Committee member Chhiring Lhamu Lama Tamang has announced her resignation from all responsibilities of the party, declaring herself an independent political figure.
Issuing a statement on Thursday, she said she had been compelled to decide due to pressure from within the party.
She had previously served as a proportional representation member of the House of Representatives from the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre).
In her statement, she expressed gratitude toward what she described as “narrow, intolerant and exclusionary politics,” saying such experiences helped her better understand the value of freedom.
She further alleged that repeated attempts were made to weaken her morale and orchestrate conspiracies against her, both politically and personally, to sideline and end her political career.
