KATHMANDU: The government has stepped up efforts to promote domestic products as a matter of national pride, with a particular focus on expanding the market reach of the state-owned Dairy Development Corporation (DDC).
A detailed discussion was held in today’s Cabinet meeting regarding nationwide promotion and market expansion of DDC’s dairy products.
Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Gita Chaudhary strongly raised the agenda, emphasizing the need to prioritize domestic dairy production for the protection of local farmers, improved livelihoods, and institutional strengthening of the corporation.

She stressed that coordinated efforts among government bodies are essential to make DDC more competitive, high-quality, and self-reliant.
According to her, ensuring proper management of milk collected from Nepali dairy farmers and guaranteeing a stable market for its products should be a key government responsibility.
During the meeting, Minister Chaudhary also distributed packaged DDC dairy products to Prime Minister Balendra Shah and other Cabinet members as a symbolic gesture to encourage the use of domestic products.
