Over 2,300 drivers penalized in Kathmandu valley in 24 hours
Among those penalized, 92 drivers were found operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
KATHMANDU: Traffic police in the Kathmandu Valley have taken action against 2,392 motorists in the past 24 hours for violating various traffic rules, collecting Rs 2.19 million in fines.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the enforcement drive targeted multiple offences including drunk driving, speeding, signal violations, and improper lane discipline.
Among those penalized, 92 drivers were found operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
Likewise, 171 individuals were booked for operating ride-sharing services in violation of regulations, 151 for signal light violations, and 145 for overspeeding.
In addition, 56 drivers were penalized for lane indiscipline, 145 for unnecessary horn usage in restricted areas, 151 for illegal roadside parking, and 159 for driving against one-way traffic rules. A further 1,394 drivers were booked for other miscellaneous traffic violations.
