2,297 drivers penalized in 24 hours in Kathmandu valley

KATHMANDU: In the past 24 hours, a total of 2,297 drivers have been penalized for violating traffic rules in the Kathmandu Valley, generating Rs 20.21 lakh in government revenue, according to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office.
Among those actioned, 103 were caught driving under the influence of alcohol, 134 were operating ride-sharing services in violation of regulations, 102 were found violating traffic signals, and 108 were booked for speeding.
Similarly, 141 drivers were penalised for lane discipline violations, 186 for using their horns unnecessarily in prohibited areas, 158 for illegal roadside or footpath parking, 77 for driving on one-way roads, and 1,288 for other miscellaneous traffic offences.
