Bharat Khanal joins UML, cites threats to Nepal’s sovereignty
Khanal cited growing threats to the nation’s sovereignty as his motivation for the move.
KATHMANDU: Jhapa-5, a key constituency of CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, has witnessed a significant political shift as Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) regional council member Bharat Khanal joined the CPN-UML.
Khanal cited growing threats to the nation’s sovereignty as his motivation for the move.
He claimed that foreign interference in Nepal’s affairs has intensified and stressed the need to strengthen nationalist forces during such critical times.
He said, “The current developments pose serious risks to our national integrity. In these challenging times, we must support leaders like KP Oli who stand for the nation.”
Khanal also criticized foreign foundations and imperialist powers for what he described as their “naked manipulation” in Nepal. He urged that the country’s political and social situations be analyzed through careful, in-depth research rather than media trials alone.
Calling on the youth of Jhapa-5 to uphold nationalist values, Khanal emphasized the importance of uniting behind leaders committed to protecting Nepal’s sovereignty.
