KATHMANDU: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has emphasized that prosperity should not be limited to a handful of people but must be for the common population.

Bhandari stressed that Nepal’s prosperity cannot be measured solely by current economic indicators but must be made sustainable through political determination, social inclusion, commitment to the constitution, and a strong sense of national pride.
She said the path to prosperity should not simply follow others’ models but must be determined by deeply analyzing the needs, resources, context, and potentials of Nepalese society.
According to her, political stability and an environment of trust are the most important factors for fostering investment. Alongside investment, employment, inclusion, rural development, women’s empowerment, and environmental responsibility must also be ensured.
The former president stated that Nepal has entered a new era of stability, change, and development and called for investment in the country. She urged active efforts to make the journey towards economic prosperity meaningful.
She emphasized that prosperity must no longer be just a dream but a firm commitment. Bhandari also highlighted the need to develop marketing plans for Nepalese products among the global Nepali diaspora and stressed the importance of giving adequate attention to promoting youth entrepreneurship.
