KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has started preparations for the second phase of its ongoing general convention immediately after completing the election to select 99 central committee members.

According to party spokesperson Manish Jha, the election commission is working to begin the second phase of voting from 4 pm.

The second round will elect key office bearers, including two vice presidents, one general secretary and three joint general secretaries.

Rabi Lamichhane has already been unanimously elected as party chairperson, while senior leader and Prime Minister Balen Shah has also secured the senior leader position without a contest.

The RSP’s 19-member office-bearer structure allows one of the three vice presidents to be nominated.

Similarly, one of the two general secretaries and two of the five joint general secretaries will be appointed through nomination as per the party statute.

In the first phase of the convention, 2,959 representatives cast their votes for central committee members. Out of the total 4,311 representatives, 1,352 were absent from the voting process.
