KATHMANDU: Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP)/People’s Freedom Party Chair Ranjita Shrestha has expelled two state chairs from the party.

Chair Shrestha has sent a letter expelling Gandaki State Chair Rajan Gurung and Bagmati Sttae Chair Deep Bahadur Yonjan Tamang from the party.

It is stated in the letter issued late on Monday by Chair Shrestha that he was expelled from the party according to the party constitution for indecently behaving and beating the central members of the party Ramlal Dagaura Tharu and Ramesh Bishwakarma during the meeting of the founding central members of the party on Monday.

President Ranjita is in favor of joining the newly formed power equation from the union to the state, while her husband Resham Chaudhary, who is a guardian, is in favor of the Congress-led government in the Sudurpaschim.

Due to this reason, the dispute within the party has reached an extreme level and a situation of fighting between the leaders and activists has been created in the meeting of the Central Committee held in Kathmandu on Monday.
