Man held for setting fire to jungle

KATHMANDU: Kaski police have apprehended an individual on allegations of setting fire to the jungle.

On Friday, Agandhar Paudel, aged 39, was detained in connection to the fire incident in the community forest of Maramche, Ward No. 3 of Annapurna Rural Municipality in Kaski.

Following the blaze, a police team from the Ward Police Office, Bagar, conducted a search operation to locate the person responsible for igniting the fire.

Paudel was brought under control as informed by Kaski’s police spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police Vasanta Kumar Sharma.

According to Sharma, Paudel confessed to setting fire to the jungle near his own farmland and admitted to the significant spread of the fire in the community forest area.

The police have transsferred Paudel to the Division Forest Office in Kaski for necessary investigation and legal action, informed Division Forest Officer Komal Raj Kafle, who stated that the process of action against Paudel has been initiated by the Division Forest Office.
