KATHMANDU: The involvement of former IGP of Nepal Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh in the 61 kg gold smuggling case has been confirmed.

In the report submitted to the home minister by the commission formed to investigate gold smuggling, action has been recommended against Singh.

Singh was under investigation after he was seen to be closely related to Dawa Chhiring, who was arrested on Sharawan 14 (July 30) on charges of gold smuggling.

However, the Central Investigation Bureau of Police did not bring Singh under investigation.

Singh, who became the 29th Inspector General of Nepal Police on Baisakh 18, 2079 (1 May, 2022), and Dawa are said to have been in contact since one and a half years ago.
