KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has stated that he has been entrusted by the Nepali Congress to play a major role as the chief representative of the opposition.

Following discussions with top leaders of the party on Tuesday, Lamichhane informed journalists that he would work to bring together all parties to put an end to the prevalent instability in the country.

He mentioned that the government is committed to resolving the issue of cooperatives.

Lamichhane stated that in order to address the problems facing cooperatives, the government has decided, through a cabinet meeting, to return the money of depositors, arrest those who are guilty and evade, seize the property of operators who are not in contact, and return the money of depositors.

He also revealed that preparations are underway to present this decision as a proposal in the upcoming parliamentary meeting.

Lamichhane expressed readiness to resign if any complaints against him regarding the cooperative funds embezzlement are registered, and he is willing to form a parliamentary committee for investigation.

He mentioned the lack of clear grounds for forming the committee.

Lamichhane emphasized that he did not find it necessary to create chaos in Parliament by resigning.
