KATHMANDU: Roshni Kshetri (Eliza), a Pokhara-based journalist, committed suicide.

Eliza, 25, committed self-immolation by pouring petrol on Monday afternoon at her Pokhara-8 Jalpar Roadhouse.

She was brought directly to Gandaki Medical College and afterwards to Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences (Western Regional Hospital). She died at noon the next day.

She is also a member of the Film Journalist Association Kaski’s working committee and has previously worked in media outlets such as Machhapuchhre FM, Parsika dotcom, and Annapurna FM.

She had been a journalist for seven years and was pursuing her master’s degree in journalism.

Eliza, who was born on Poush 27, 2055 (11 Jan 1999) in Pokhara-20 Bhalam, married barely a year ago. A baby is also said to be growing in her stomach. His motivation for self-immolating is unknown.

Film Journalist Association Kaski President Prabhu Adhikari and Secretary Santosh Basyal through a condolence statement expressed that the union family is saddened and shocked by the untimely death of Executive Committee member Chhetri.
