POKHARA: The king’s winter palace on Pokhara’s lakeside has been opened to the public.

Ratna Mandir and Himgriha were opened on the occasion of Republic Day.

For a long time, the inhabitants of Pokhreli have demanded that the palace be opened.

Tourism experts predict that with the opening of the Palace, Pokhara would become a new tourist destination.

The internal construction of the Himagriha palace is embellished with magnificent stone sculpture carved in pagoda style.

The former King Mahendra bought the land in 2013 with the aim of protecting the Rani Forest across the lake and built a palace in the name of Rani Ratnarajya Lakshmi 3 years later.

Himagriha was built in the year 2032. The ice house has historical objects distributed throughout an area of around 10 ropani. The royal family used to spend one month a year in the winter palace.
