KATHMANDU: A couple from Jhapa’s Kachankawal committed suicide by hanging themselves in the same trap.

Rajesh Kumar Ganesh, 25, and Pavitra Rajbanshi, 18, both of Kachankawal-4, committed suicide by hanging themselves in the same trap after their love failed due to family pressure.

Rajesh Kumar and Pavitra were in a relationship and married a year ago after their families refused to let them marry. Their relationship was frowned upon by the girl’s family. Even after marriage, the family refused to accept them.

The girl’s family put her under pressure to settle the case. She filed a police report against Rajesh under duress. The police reached an agreement on the condition that they live apart.

Police said that the girl’s parents returned her home, claiming that her daughter was a minor. The boy’s case was settled for 6.5 lakh rupees. Both remained at their respective homes following the case. Although the physical distance between them is great, the distance between them is not.

Despite the fact that family, society, and the law increased the physical distance between them, the pyramid of love in the heart was shrinking.

They met on Monday night, away from family and society. They resolved, however, never to return to their anti-love society and family. They committed suicide by making a fishing net rope and attaching a trap to it.

According to Kalendra Prasad Singh Rajbanshi, Chairperson of Kachankawal Rural Municipality, if the family members had not separated the two souls, they would not have met such a tragic end.

The police have also made a preliminary conclusion that the reason for their suicide was love failure.
