KATHMANDU: The Nepal Telecommunication Authority’s Monitoring Division has ordered the closure of online gambling and cryptocurrency websites and apps in Nepal.
It means that transactions involving digital technologies such as virtual currency and network marketing, which are not legally recognized as monetary instruments, must be halted.
A warning has also been issued that if the authority’s instructions are not followed, legal action will be taken.
The authority has directed all internet service providers to prevent the use, operation, and management of websites, apps, online networks, and other virtual media related to illegal activities and economic crimes via online technology such as cryptocurrency, bitcoin, hyper networking, online gambling, and so on.
