KATHMANDU: The Chief Minister administered the oath of office and secrecy to all newly elected members of the Lumbini State Assembly (SA).

Amik Sherchan, the state chief, administered the oath of office to all newly elected state assembly members on Sunday.

Earlier, the president swore in senior members of the House of Representatives (HoR), and other senior members were sworn in.

Similarly, the function of swearing by the senior member of the state’s head and other members of the senior member was transferred to other states.

However, in Lumbini, according to Rule 4 of the State Assembly Rules, all MPs were sworn in by the Chief Minister.

The parliamentarians took the oath of office in the newly built temporary state assembly building in Deukhuri, Rapti valley, Dang, the state capital.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Kulprasad KC, UML General Secretary and former Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel, Secretary Chabilal Bishwakarma, Congress leader Chandra Bhandari, and others.

The Lumbini State Assembly has 87 members, 52 elected directly and 35 elected proportionally. Ten political parties are represented.
