KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari made a serious request for the dignity and credibility of journalism during the opening of the Central General Meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists.

President Bhandari expressed her best wishes for the program’s success, expressing her hope that attention will be paid to the country’s situation and the role of journalism.

She stated that the Federation of Journalists, which was formed to protect the rights of journalists, has made an important contribution, but that if the system cannot work well together, the constitution will be useless.

The Nepalese people wish for the country’s rapid development. The government should not discriminate. People, she says, want development and easy access to education.

Stating that while challenges have arisen as a result of the development of journalism, the independent practice of journalism is an important aspect of democracy and should be made more effective.
