KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City is preparing to fill 25 million liters of water in Kamal Pokhari within a few days. Reconstruction of the first phase of the pond will be completed by mid-Chaith and the corporation is preparing to fill the pond with water.

Mayor Bidhya Sundar Shakya while giving information about the progress of the work said, ‘The reconstruction work of the pond is more than 70 per cent complete. In the next few days, we are preparing to fill 25 million liters of water in the pond. As rumored, we will not put a concrete lotus in the middle of the pond. ‘

Giving information about the design of the pond, he said that there would be four attractive and cultural pavilions at the four corners of the pond and five pavilions including one with the main entrance on the east side. Kamal Pokhari, which is being reconstructed in Ward No. 1, has an investment of around Rs. 63.6 million.

The pond is spread over an area of ​​23 ropanis and 14 annas. There will be nine chaityas in the lotus pond and the entrance to the pond will be given a Nepali look. Nepali bricks and stone stones will be used in the construction of the pond. There will be roofing structures of Jhingati around the pond to reflect Nepaliness. There are plans to build five Makardhara in the pond.
