Tanzanian President John Magufuli dies

KATHMANDU: Tanzanian President John Magufuli has died at the age of 61. Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan said in a televised address that President John died at the hospital due to heart problems.

He had not been seen in public for more than two weeks. There were various rumors about his health condition. It was rumored that he had already died. Opposition leaders claimed last week that he had contracted the corona virus. But it has not been officially confirmed.

John was one of Africa’s leading suspects in the corona virus. He used to pray, take steam therapy and take Ayurvedic medicine to avoid the corona virus.

Vice President Hassan has declared 14 days of national mourning for President John. According to Tanzania’s constitution, Hassan will be sworn in as the new president. Magufuli was last seen on February 27. But Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said only last week that President Magufuli was in good health.
