Kampala. President Yoweri Museveni has been re-elected President of Uganda, the Election Commission announced on Saturday.

The commission’s chairman and judge, Simon Babakama, said in a statement on Saturday that Museveni had received 58.64 percent of the total votes cast in the January 14 election.

Incumbent President Museveni’s closest rival, Bobby Wine, Robert Kagulyani, received 34.83 percent of the vote.

Leader of the Democratic Change Party and Leader of the Opposition Patrick Amuriot came in third with 3.24 percent of the vote, according to the Election Commission.

Museveni’s victory, which has ruled Uganda since 1986, has given his rule another five years. Agency
