14th National Children’s Drama festival begins, includes 29 Plays (with photos)
The 12th and 13th drama festivals, which Shailee Theatre has organized for the past 13 years, were completed virtually due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
KATHMANDU: The 14th National Children’s Drama Festival has begun. The festival, organized by Shailee Theatre in collaboration with the Institutional Schools Association of Nepal (ISAN), was inaugurated on Sunday at Rusi Sadan Kamal Pokhari.
The 12th and 13th drama festivals, which Shailee Theatre has organized for the past 13 years, were completed virtually due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
The 14th Children’s Drama Festival, which began on Sunday, is scheduled to last nine days. According to Sabin Neupane, Executive Coordinator of Shailee Theatre, the festival features 29 different play genres, both competitive and non-competitive.
The staging of the play began with the play ‘Sunaulo Machha,’ directed by Nawaraj Budhathoki, in the drama festival organized by Shailee Theatre since 2066 BS. The festival featured six plays that year.
Actors Baburam Regmi, Kishor Anurag and Kanchi Maharjan are acting as decisive in the drama festival. Shailee Theatre has been organizing the National Children’s Drama Festival every year for the past 13 years, focusing on children’s themes. The plays included in the 14th National Children’s Drama Festival will be staged from Feb 12 to Feb 20 at Russi Sadan Kamal Pokhari and Ratopul.
