Yadav urges fair treatment for woman who threatened him
In his Facebook statement, Minister Yadav emphasized that the issue arose from a moment of frustration, not a political or personal vendetta.
KATHMANDU: Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation, Pradeep Yadav, has clarified that he holds no personal bias against Kiran Sah, the woman who reportedly threatened his life over a phone call.
Sah, currently in police custody, was arrested last Saturday following an audio clip circulating on social media in which she expressed anger over the minister’s handling of the cholera outbreak in Parsa and allegedly issued a death threat.
In his Facebook statement, Minister Yadav emphasized that the issue arose from a moment of frustration, not a political or personal vendetta.
He urged authorities to treat Sah with leniency and requested that his name not be associated with her arrest.
“The woman who made the call should be allowed to reflect and reform. Personally, I have no prejudice against her,” Yadav wrote. He also assured that citizens exercising their democratic rights would continue to receive his support.
The minister suggested that Sah might have acted under someone else’s influence, and he expressed confidence that the police would investigate the motive behind her actions. “Even if complaints are directed at a public representative, spreading baseless rumors or issuing threats cannot be tolerated,” he stated.
Yadav reiterated the importance of upholding law and order, asserting, “In a democracy, citizens have the right to voice grievances, but anarchy under any pretext is unacceptable.” He also confirmed that the investigation concerning Sah has concluded and expressed hope for a fair judicial outcome. “No one is above the law. We must trust in the impartiality of the legal system,” he said.
