Ward Chair attacked in Taplejung, seriously injured

KATHMANDU: Taplejung’s Ward Chair Tekindra Sendang of Aathrai Triveni Rural Municipality–2 was seriously injured in a violent attack on Saturday.

According to reports, Sendang was returning home from a meeting of the CPN-UML district committee when he was assaulted in the Tokmedanda area.

He sustained injuries to his head and other parts of his body and was initially treated before being admitted to B&C Hospital in Birtamod for further care.

Taplejung police chief DSP Ved Prasad Gautam confirmed that Sendang suffered multiple injuries, including to his head.

The CPN-UML Taplejung stated that a group of 5–7 individuals carried out the brutal attack.

Police are currently investigating and searching for those involved.
